Sun Hydraulics Corporation Announces Midwest Operation Share on email Share on print Back to: Latest News SARASOTA, FLA, February 24, 2003 – Sun Hydraulics Corporation (NASDAQ: SNHY) today announced that it intends to establish an operation in the Kansas City, Kansas area for the promotion and production of custom engineered hydraulic valve packages. Custom engineered valve packages are comprised of standard screw-in cartridge valves housed in a custom manifold. Once a customer’s hydraulic circuit has been developed, it is incorporated into a single, custom manifold designed to fit into a defined location. Benefits to customers using engineered valve packages include order simplification, reduced assembly time and cost and consolidation of the hydraulic control system. “Engineered valve packages represent a natural evolution of screw-in cartridge valve technology,” says Allen Carlson, Sun Hydraulics’ CEO and president. “Using standard Sun components, customers are able to design a custom control solution that fits precisely for their application.” With the Midwest operation, Sun will have the capability to produce larger size manifolds in the United States as well as ductile iron manifolds that require quick delivery. In the start up phase, the design and order process will be run through Sun’s Sarasota facilities. “We are excited about our Midwest operation and the opportunity it represents,” Carlson continued. “The custom valve package segment of the hydraulic valve industry represents significant growth potential. While we have always competed in this area, our presence in the Midwest will help us gain a greater share of the business.” Sun Hydraulics Corporation is a leading designer and manufacturer of high performance screw-in hydraulic cartridge valves and manifolds for worldwide industrial and mobile markets.
